Qualification Structure
The suite includes awards and certificates regulated by Ofqual on the RQF. Learners can achieve standalone awards or combine them for a certificate. Prior learning from specified organizations is recognized for credit transfer.
Levels Overview
Entry 1: Focuses on basic communication in familiar situations, such as simple narratives and discussions about daily life. Speaking and Listening exam: 5-min one-to-one and 4-min group.
Entry 2: Builds on straightforward verbal exchanges, including past events and role plays. Exam: 8-min one-to-one and 5-min group.
Entry 3: Involves detailed information and planning actions in discussions. Exam: 8-min one-to-one and 6-min group.
Level 1: Covers varying length explanations and project planning. Exam: 10-min one-to-one and 7-min group.
Level 2: Emphasizes extended narratives, formal presentations, and debates on global issues. Exam: 14-min one-to-one and 8-min group.
The structure comprises individual awards in Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing at each level, with an overarching certificate requiring all three. GLH and TQT are standardized: Speaking and Listening (120 GLH/130 TQT), Reading (60 GLH/70 TQT), Writing (90 GLH/100 TQT), and Certificate (270 GLH/300 TQT). Assessments are externally conducted, with Speaking and Listening involving one-to-one and group components, while Reading and Writing are paper-based exams.
