On enrolment you receive a welcome pack with a scheme of work, an email address and extensive technical guides on how to take part in your lessons.

Course Outcomes


Our online Pre-Sessional English course will improve your understanding and use of the English language and academic skills for university-level study. At the end of your course you will have improved in the following areas:

  • Writing – write opinion essays on a variety of topics and develop writing process strategies to produce coherent texts.
  • Reading – demonstrate a thorough reading comprehension using a variety of reading subskills and ability to think critically when responding to a variety of texts.
  • Speaking – express oneself effectively and improve presentation skills.
  • Listening – know how to navigate digital tools such as a VLE and communicate with peers and teachers online.
  • Digital Literacy – know how to navigate digital tools such as a VLE and communicate with peers and teachers online.
  • Mediation – gain ability to work collaboratively with peers, evaluate one’s work critically and engage actively in academic settings.

 

Course Structure


The course is structured with four key components listed below. Our course will prepare you for university-level study and in addition to live classes, you are recommended to spend at least two hours per day on your extended and self-study.

  • Live classes: Run on the Zoom platform and led by our teachers
  • Extended study: Access homework and assigned group tasks with other students.
  • Self-study: Access to additional practice and study resources
  • Assignments: In addition to homework you will have weekly assignments.

 

Course Features


  1. Access to Microsoft Teams to share assignments, feedback and materials.
  2. Extended study with peers outside the classroom via Microsoft Teams.
  3. Unique guided self study via Oxford International’s Virtual Learning Campus (VLC) for up to 3 months after the course.
  4. Access to VLE extension for skills focus.
  5. Ongoing teacher and group feedback and assessment on performance.
  6. All lessons are recorded and available to be reviewed later.
  7. Final assessments.
