In simple terms

IGCSE → final two years of the IB MYP

AS Level → first year of the IB Diploma

One A Level → one IB Higher Level subject

Three A Levels → the full IB Diploma

Important note for parents

IB and UK qualifications are structured differently, so there is no official grade conversion between IGCSE and IB. The IGCSE comparison is a general guide to academic level only. The A Level and IB comparison uses UCAS Tariff points, which UK universities recognise, but each university sets its own entry requirements. For example, a course asking for AAA at A Level might ask IB applicants for 36 points overall, or 6, 6, 6 at Higher Level.

For school transfers, university applications or specific entry requirements, always check with the relevant school or university.
